Plateau Receives 11,000 Applications For One Thousand Jobs- Vongjen Lar

The Chairman Plateau state Teachers Service Commission, Chief Vongjen T. Lar has expressed shock over the number of applications that flows to his table seeking to be employed as teachers in the state.

The chairman said during one of the visit to some local governments the number of applicants who turned out even outnumbered political rallies, the situation he describes as very chaotic in view of the fact that government intended to employ about a thousand teachers only, but has so far received well over 11,000 applications.

The chairman who disclosed this in an exclusive interview with our correspondent in his office in jos says the commission is desired to handle the situation in such a way no body will feel injured at the end of the exercise.

According to him, ” the commission is determined to address the negative vices where some secondary schools exist without teachers and with approval for the recruitment of 800 teachers in the state by Governor Lalong, We are going to be transparent in handling the exercise.

“Those who are thinking that teaching line is a place to manage life are making great error, because education need to be given great priority”.

He added that, the exercise would be very competitive to an extend that those with Bsc in other field but do not have PGD in education will not fit into the system, and those with NCE would be accorded top priority, stressing that, even after the exercise those selected must pass TRCN examination before they will be considered.

He expressed confident that the recruitment will not turned the out to be a political exercise, saying government has demonstrated good will in the plight of the state civil servants and pensioners and as such will adequately take the welfare of those to be recruited seriously.

He appeal to those who might mixed out of the exercise to remain patience and wait for another opportunity.
