Lokoja LG NULGE Disassociates Self From Workers Protest, Says It Was Politically Motivated

The leadership the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Lokoja Local Government chapter has disassociated itself from the protest embarked upon by the council workers today.

Speaking to newsmen in Lokoja, the NULGE Chairman, Comrade Bala Muhammed who frowned at the action of the workers described the protest as uncalled for saying that due process was not followed by the workers.

Muhammed said that the union was not consulted by the workers before embarking on such action adding that it was politically motivated.

He urged the union members to disregard any directive by any local government staff on issues that boarders on strike or protest.

Comrade Muhammed asserted that though there are pending issues affecting the council workers salary which needeed attention, stressing that leadership of the union is still on negotiation table with the council’s management.

He urged the state government to ensure the prompt payment of salaries of NULGE members and pensioners.
