Court sentence Diabolic Okene Pastor, Council Boss Appreciate Judiciary

The Judiciary has ones again been commended for upholding the laws of the land and sanitizing the society against evils and criminalities by men who in some cases operates under the cover of religious and humanitarian activities.

The Chairman of Okene Local Government, Engr. Abdulrazaq Muhammad gave the commendation in a statement after Hon. Justice Abdullahi Umar of the Kogi State High Court sitting in Okene sentenced the notorious pastor of the New Jerusalem Church, Ageva, Peter Micheal Michonza to 8 years imprisonment for operating illegal medical facility resulting in deaths of pregnant women, illegal psychiatric home and camping of young women for reasons unknown to law, therefore violating societal ethics and norms.

The Council Chairman appreciated the law enforcement agencies for proper investigation and commended government counsels for such a diligent prosecution in court. He reiterated government’s commitment to continue the war against crime and criminalities in the state.

The Council boss advised the people to always patronized only registered medical facilities as religious houses are not licensed to diagnosed or carryout any form of medical treatment. He warned the people especially youths to learn from this case and always engage in legal and productive ventures.

It was gathered that a number of deaths have been recorded at the prayer house, including pregnant women and others suffering from various ailments, after charging their relatives huge sum of money.
