The continued face off between media practitioners and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in plateau has continued to generate mixed reactions from all angles, as the mis-understanding has taken a frightening dimension.
Our correspondence from the Plateau State capital revealed that the concerned party removed the names of selected Journalist from the Party’s platform, which was created to keep the state’s media abreast of activities in the party.
He noted that Journalist took such action as a slap on them, promising to further pounce on the party and stakeholders accordingly.
It could be recalled that the practicing Journalists in plateau state had been dagger drown with the party in the state over constant mistreatment and shortchanging of the press in the state.
One of the Journalist who spoke on the condition of anonymity said the trouble started when governorship aspirant in the state came to declared his intentions ahead 2019 election and gave the sum of Hundred and Ten Thousand (#110,000)naira to the men of pen profession,which was alleged to have been highjacked by the party’s stakeholders and his cohorts and they end up giving each Journalists #1,000 each, he said.
He also said that similar occurrence replicated itself during the visit of the presidential aspirant under PDP at the 2019 election,Saminu Turaki which the Journalists where reliably told that over #300,000 naira was given to them, but the money was again high jacked by some groups within the PDP fold and their collaborators and ended up giving #3,000 naira each to journalist and all of them that attended the event could not get the money.
“The PDP stakeholders are biting too much than they could chew they are becoming to greedy ,self centered and above all shylock to say the least”he maintained.
The last straw that broke the camel’s back according to another source was when I.D Gang a member representing Barkin Ladi Ryom federal constituency at the National Assembly, visited the constituency.
“As usual money was given and those persons within the party played the usual the more you see the less you understand, claiming that cash was not given by I.D Gang to the Journalists, But Honourable.I.D Gang himself directed Journalists to meet with the party as he claimed he has settled the Journalists through them.
Some of the Journalists who were not comfortable with the party’s mistreatments decided to confront them by asking some questions ,but the party got infuriated and removed their contact from the platform of the party.
Another Journalist who spoke to this medium and doesn’t want his name published said the action of the party to say the least poses potent danger to the party particularly now that it’s no longer in power both at national and the state in question.
He called on the stakeholders of the party in the state to call themselves to order to avoid destroying the party.
