OONI BREAKS 79-YEAR-OLD JINX AND FEUD BETWEEN 2 YORUBA STOOLS, VISITS ALAAFIN IN OYO

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, on Sunday broke a 79-year old jinx when he visited the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III to felicitate with him on his 45th year on the throne.

His visit which was greeted with excitement broke the age-long feud that had existed between the two Yoruba stools, thus making him the first Ooni to have visited the Alaafin in Oyo since Osun State was carved out of the old Oyo about 40 years ago.

The presence of the Ooni at the Methodist Church, Apaara, Oyo, venue of the 45th coronation anniversary thanksgiving of Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, made the atmosphere glow as a long queue of vehicles of other Obas accompanied him to the ancient town.

Oba Ogunwusi, who was decked in the normal Ooni trademark attire, shook hands with the Alaafin and they sat on the same chair, both all smiles.

They were the cynosure of all eyes as everybody wanted to take their photographs.

It would be recalled that there was no love-lost between the late Ooni Sijuwade and Oba Adeyemi, who were embroiled in supremacy battle till the former joined his ancestors last year.
