Governor Simon Bako Lalong of Plateau State has warmed beneficiaries of 400 tractors distributed to enhanced mechanized farming against reselling it out and advised them to make proper use of the opportunity and transform themselves and their immediate communities through mechanized system of farming.
Governor Lalong handed down the warning during the distribution of Harrowing Tractors to farmers at Government House Little Rayfeild in Jos south LG of plateau State .
He disclosed that his 5 pillar policy of revolutionizing the agricultural sectors is by boosting farming to change from subsistence farming to mechanized system as a driving force to actualize his administration plan for rural /urban to become millions.
The Governor promised to make agriculture attractive to farmers with the commencement of the distribution of 400 tractors to all those farmers who have registered to acquire model farming implement to enhanced their farming methods.
According to him ,he expressed confidence that any farmers who has indicated interest to venture into Agriculture, with the aid of mechanized system of farming he or she is already a millionaire in Plateau state.
Lalong also send warning to the beneficiaries against those who may sell off their own tractor outside the state as he was disbursing 35 tractors in the first phase of the scheme to the farmers in the state to boost their crop production against selling .
He reiterated that the state government decided to subsidized the price for the purchase of the tractors to increase the farmers yield not for you to sell it.
“You are not giving the tractors for you to sell ,but to aid you increased your yield and to avoid the crude way of farming “.
He condemned that those are referring to long delayed in given out the tractors, as political enemy of progress who constantly criticized the agricultural scheme of the government doubting the reality of the scheme as sad .
“I called them enemy of the state because they don’t like agricultural sector , anybody who did not like agriculture is an enemy of the state”he maintained.
The governor however thanked God that despite the challenges of the scheme by some distractors,the tractors is been distributed to the beneficiaries today to silence the mischief makers .
Governor Lalong advised those who couldn’t have the privilege to benefit from the scheme at this first phase ,not to be discouraged as they will be considered in the subsequent phases as the programme is in phases.
