The new speaker is Hon. Godwin Osiyi representing Ogori-magongo, Kogi State House of Assembly. While Hon. John Abah from Ibaji is the new deputy speaker while Hon. James Eneche from Olamaboro is the new Minority leader.

Alhaji Momoh-Jimoh Lawal, former Speaker together with his deputy speaker, Aliyu Aku and Minority Leader, Hassan Bello has been removed by the 17 out of 25 members of the Kogi State House of Assembly.

His removal is coming after the emergance of Alhaji Yahaya Bello, himself an Egbira man,  as the state’s governor elect following December 5th supplementary election.

The positions of Governor, Deputy Governor and Speaker are shared among Igala Egbira and Okun ethnic groups in Kogi state.

This is coming 2 days after an Apeal court sitting in Abuja, upturned the election of Rt. Hon Abdullahi Bello, former speaker, kogi state house if assenble, representing Okene/Ogori-Magongo Federal constituency, which is to be re-conducted in 90 days
