KABBA /BUNU SETS THE PACE IN GREEN REVOLUTION

The Kabba / Bunu Local government area farmers got a morale booster last week, when the north central and south west zonal coordinators of rural agricultural development agencies paid the Local government area a working visit to sensitize and educate farmers on farming techniques and how farming can be more commercially viable, so that they can be self sufficient and boost food production in the country.

This became necessary especially as the clamor for diversification of our economy from petroleum to agriculture is rife . The visit became imperative at a time like this when the revolution of “back to farm” has necessitated other states of the Federation to commence compulsory farming. This visit is owing to the fact that Kabba / Bunu is situated in the green region of the state.

According to the team leader, he stated that they will be dealing directly with farmers because of the perennial problems farmers are always up against such as untimely supply of fertilizer and other farming inputs. Further more, he stated that cooperative loans would be given free once you meet up with the requirements.  He stated that registered members of Agricultural cooperatives will be given the sum of 500,000 thousand payable on installment over 36 months. With these incentives, the internally generated revenue (IGR) of Kabba/Bunu local Government area would be boosted as the local government will no longer be dependant on Federal Government allocation before they pay salaries.
According to Mrs Olorunnipa, a director from the Local government area department of Agriculture, she stated that Kabba/ Bunu’s land is fertile and the yields would be 100%. She also reiterated that lands would be given to intending beneficiaries who want to start farming right away.

Responding, farmers in attendance expressed their joy and happiness and thanked the team for coming to KABBA/Bunu local government area and they promised to give their best.
