Contrary to stories being reported in the media, on the arrest of the Ijumu Local Government Area Administrator Hon Isah Taofiq, who is also the ALGON Chairman of Kogi state, the stories have been claimed to be spurious, a desperate alarmist cry and unfounded.
Aides to the Administrator claimed the stories making round were concocted in the figment of the peddler’s imagination, whose intent was to heat up the polity and also portray the council boss in a bad light. They boasted 1000 Dinos cannot arrest one Taofiq.
Guardian newspaper reported a story this evening with a time stamp of 8:18om, the story credited to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Isah was arrested at the gate of the state Ministry of Education by security agents, who intercepted the council boss’ vehicle.
The security officials had quietly flashed their Identity cards and asked Isah to alight and board their waiting vehicle, a directive Isah complied with, after hesitating for some minutes. However, aides of the Administrator have released pictures of their principal with journalists at the Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ) press center this evening, to prove and affirm that the Administrator was indeed not arrested.
Contrary to what the aides said on social media pages, our source with the Nigeria Police who pleaded for anonymity confirmed that, the Local Government boss was merely brought in for questioning but was released after all said and done, as at this moment, this is unconfirmed. Nevertheless, E-Reporter News is making frantic efforts to meet with the Local Government Boss to hear directly from him.
