The deputy gubernatorial candidate to the late Abubakar Audu, James Faleke has resumed full legislative duty on Tuesday, December 8, just 72-hour after the conclusion of the supplementary governorship election in Kogi state.
Faleke had refused to be a running mate to Yahaya Bello who was being substituted by his party, All Progressives Congress, as the flag bearer following the demise of Audu.
The lawmaker, representing Ikeja Federal Constituency in the 8th House of Representatives resumed back to work amid cheers from his colleagues.
Faleke, who is also the chairman of the Committee on Customs and Excise held a brief chat with Speaker Yakubu Dogara before returning to his seat.
Following the declaration of the November 25 governorship election as inconclusive by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the eventual death of Audu, Faleke had approached the court to compel the electoral body to declare governor-elect.
He argued that APC erred by substituting Bello for Audu and faulted the decision of INEC to so declare the election as inconclusive.
The lawmaker also accused Bello’s camp for anti-party activities during the inconclusive poll stating that the camp worked against the interest of the APC which accounted why the party lost even his own polling booth in Okene.
Meanwhile, the leadership of the APC were said to be making moves to unite Bello and Faleke following the impasses in the gubernatorial election in Kogi state.
It was learnt that a meeting summoned by James Ocholi, the minister of state for labour and productivity, on Sunday, December 6, had about 50 party members in attendance.
According to a source that was present during the meeting, the party stakeholders have resolved that the party should pursue peace, unity and reconciliation.
