– Also resolved that House Deputy Leader takes over
The Legislative Council of Lokoja Local Government, has secretly suspended it Council Leader, Hon Blessing Ogwu, over her part in the allegation of misappropriation of funds that led to the earlier suspension of the Council Chairman by the Kogi State House of Assembly.
The Legislative Council also resolved that the Deputy Council Leader take charge pending the outcome of investigations.
The suspension was contained in a secret resolution of the Legislative Council signed by all the other nine Councillors at the end of a sitting on Friday, 24th March, 2023.
Part of the resolution reads “The Lokoja Local Government Legislative Council at it sitting on Friday, 24th March, 2023 deliberated extensively on the collaboration of Council Leader with Executive Chairman, Lokoja Local Government over misappropriation of funds”.
It was added “Based on this, the Legislative Council unanimously agreed and suspended her indefinitely and seek for ratification by the Kogi State House of Assembly.
“Also resolved, that the Deputy Leader should take over the affair of the Legislative Council in acting capacity.
