A National Youth Corp (NYSC) member, Miss Vera Oshiolufa Oshiomouno serving with Radio Kogi, has put smile on the faces of less privileged students of Muslim Community Secondary School, and other areas of Lokoja as part of her Community Development Service.
Speaking with E-Reporter News, Miss Vera Oshiolufa Oshiomouno said upon resumption as a corp member in Kogi state Broadcasting Corporation, she came face to face with the sufferings of students, many of whom are having financial challenges and could not afford school fees, neat school uniforms, writing material, due to the poverty rate, hence she decided to assist as many as she could.
The project was divided into three (3) categories. The first category is for Muslim Communities students, the second is for the less privilege in the traditional area of lokoja, while the 3rd and the last category for the NYSC Local Government and Zonal Office, Lokoja.
Vera Oshiolufa Oshiomouno paid the school fees of seven (7) students, who passed the selection test, were paid. The seven students also were presented with brand new complete uniforms and sets of writing materials, which runs into hundreds of thousands naira.
Also, the less privilege in the central mosque area of Lokoja was not left out, as they were fed with sumptuous meals.
The final beneficiary was the NYSC Local Government and Zonal Office Lokoja, which got office cleaning materials and equipments, so that it can continue to keep its environment clean and squeaky.
Miss Vera Oshiolufa Oshiomouno who was visibly elated, and could not hid her joy for being able to reach out to the less privilege, despite economic and financial crisis, promised to do more for the less privilege as soon as she gets finance.
