BREAKING: Police arrests Omo-Agege over raided mace

Senator Ovie Omo-Agege (APC Delta) was today arrested at about 1:55pm by members of the Nigerian Police Force, shortly after he left plenary.

His arrest is connected to the invasion of the Senate by unidentified men who made away with the mace in a daring move that caught everyone unawares.

Following the raid, the Senate ordered the police and DSS to produce the mace within 24 hours.

The Delta Senator was suspended last Thursday following the conclusion of the investigation of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petition that probed his comments on the amended electoral act bill which Omo-Agege claimed was targeted at the President.

Surprisingly, at about 11:15am today Omo-Agege made his way into the chamber and stayed through the entire Senate proceeding in violation of the terms of his suspension which barred him from entering the National assembly premises.

However, at the conclusion of plenary, he was accosted by heavily armed police officers who escorted him outside the “White House” building within the National Assembly Complex where he was arrested and driven away in a police van.

It is not immediately clear which police station he was taken to.
