An Aide To Former Kogi Governor Earned Salary From 40 Different Sources-State Auditor General Kogi

Kogi state Auditor-General and head of Staff Screening Complain Committee, Hon Yusuf Okala has said an aide to the former governor of Kogi State earned monthly salary from 40 different sources.

Hon Okala who disclosed this during his appearance before the Kogi State house of Assembly on Thursday, 1st of September, 2016 said the former aide received salary from the 21 local government areas and various MDAs in the state.

Okala’s disclosure was in response to Hon Rabiu Momoh Alfa’s question on the importance of BVN in the staff verification exercise. Okala said the BVN has helped the screening committee and the state government to a large extend, noting that, through the BVN which links all individual accounts together, many persons who have defrauded the state have been summoned for interrogation while large amount of fund has been returned to the state.

While emphasizing on the importance of the BVN, Okala said a senior public officer in Kogi state civil service has just returned the sum of Twenty Million naira last week saying through the screening exercise, many top civil servants have been made to return fund in millions of naira.

He said the screening exercise was not targeted at any particular individual, tribe or religion but it has a mandate of riding kogi state civil service of inefficiency and corruption.
