Irukera Debunks Rumour of Replacing Governor Bello

By Williams Charles Oluwatoyin

Barrister Babatunde Irukera, has debunked a news making round that he is favoured by the Presidency to pick the Kogi State APC governorship ticket for the November 2019 election in place of Gov. Yahaya Bello.

Responding to the publication with the heading “Kogi Gov Race: Plot To Replace Bello Thickens, Irukera Tipped For APC Ticket” by Kogi Report on his Whatsapp platform and Okun patriot , Irukera did not just express his disappointment but outrightly condemned the story as unfounded.

” This account is entirely false. There was no discussion about running for senate, and there is absolutely no truth to any ongoing discussion regarding Kogi or me as an individual.

” I understand the speculative and permutative nature of politics, elective office and possible candidacy, but I owe a responsibility to set the record straight. I fight always on our platform and other places for transparent facts, as such, it will be hypocritical not to clarify this, Irukera said.

He reiterated that there was never a time the Presidency and Governor Yahaya Bello had any discussions on the subject, nor was there any conversation between anyone in the Presidency or APC national leadership and him on the subjects.

While he appreciates the public for deeming him qualified to be a senator or a governor, the truth remains that the story is to the best, a figment of their imagination and not true.
