Intending Muslim Pilgrims in Plateau State can now rejoice as the Plateau state government led by Simon Bako lalong has Subsidized the air fare for all intending pilgrims in the state who are to pay the sum of N1.471,719 for the 2018 hajj exercise.
The Executive Secretary of the Pilgrims board Barrister Auwal Abdullahi, has disclosed.
He said the 2018 hajj fare is less than the 2017, fare with more than N57,000, and the basic traveling allowance remain $800 on a flat rate.
Barrister Abdullahi, said: “This year the National Hajj Commission (NAHCON), has anmounced the hajj fare, and here in Plateau State intending pilgrims are to pay the flate rate of N1,471,719.52 and will be giving $800, as their basic traveling allowance.”
“Unlike last year fare where intending pilgrims paid, N1,529,036.80, this year they are to pay 1,471,719 with the reduction of more than N57,000,” he added.
According the to Executive Secretary of the Board said the sale of forms which has since commenced will close at the end of June, 2018 as directed by NAHCON, and also in line with agreement with Saudi Arabian Authority.
“The board is therefore calling on all intending pilgrims who have deposited part of the fare to complete it and for those that are yet to pay, should come forward and make their payment before the month end,” he said.
The Executive Secretary further added that Governor Simon Lalong is in constant touch with the board, stressing that the Governor has ensured that a befitting accommodation was secured at the Makkah for the pilgrims.
“We have secured a befiting, accommodation that is very closed to the Holy Ka’aba, because the Governor is so concerned about the welfare of the State pilgrims,” he said.
Barrister Abdullahi, said in line with Governor Lalong’s rescue policy, the board is taken so many steps aimed at ensuring improved welafe of the pilgrims, “including the pilgrims feedings at the holy land.”
