The Archbishop of Jos ,His Grace Most Rev. Ignatius A. Kaigama has condemn the attitude of some government officials who are in the habit of moving round private health care Hospitals including faith base ones taking bribe and neglecting deplorable stage of health care delivery and exposing citizens to untold hardship , subjects the people to abject poverty.
Kaigama made this disclosure at Our Lady of Apostles ,OLA,Hospital ,Jos Plateau State at the occasion of celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the establishment of Our Lady of Fatima Hospital from 1943-2018 and appeal fund launching of one hundred million naira (100,000,000.00) for an accident and emergency unit on Saturday in Jos.
He lamented the high rate of poverty in the land were public money end up in private own account of individuals while the citizens languishing in needs of social amenities .
According to him, Nigeria government should diversify the economic from mono-economy and use our common wealth rather than focusing more on physical development but deploy to take care of our teeming unemployed youth who are vulnerable travelling outside the shore of Nigeria to Italy in search of white collar jobs when most of them in some cases met their Waterloo while crossing red sea , Sahara dessert with the quest for greener pastures.
Kaigama pointed out that Catholic as faith base has contributed to the development in Nigeria as he is calling on the government to encourage the collaboration towards providing health care delivery to the citizens which will ease the plights of patients .
The Catholic leader said ,”many people have benefited from the Irish, British church education and medical facilities as great intervention for those seeking remedy to their illness and knowledge in Africa today .
He commended the manager of OLA Hospital for her prudence management of resources and vision of expansion ,construction of edifice which is playing a remarkable role to the service of people especially the accident and emergency unit .
Kaigama tasked the health care workers to be emotional ,kind hearted caring and show love to patients yearning for quick health services and also remain as care giver to those in need of attention.
Sr Florence Dunkong the manager of OLA Evangel Hospital has continued to pay a vital role in the health sector as they did not intend to go back.
She said the door of the management are opened to fruitful collaboration on matters that will spur us to deliver quality services and have a positive impact on our clients.
Sr Florence thanked the Archbishop of jos,Most Rev.Dr,Ignatius Ayau Kaigama for his overwhelming spiritual ,physical, moral and all round support.
