National Union Of Electricity Employee  (NUEE) Appeals To JED Plc To Recall Sacked Members

The workers of Jos Electricity Distribution Company(JED) Plc under the auspices of National Union of Electricity Employee (NUEE) has appeals to the management of the corporation to reengage its members that were unilaterally disengage ,dismissed from the service unceremoniously by the management of the corporation.

That the initial impression of the management against the members of the Union has been proofs wrong as privatization of the energy sector has not make any difference in the life of average Nigeria people.

The president of National Union of Electricity Employees(NUEE) comrade Martin I.Uzoegwu,represented by the General secretary of the Union, comrade Joe Ajaro make the appeal on Friday, 11th May,2018 at the corporation Headquarters along  Amadu Bello way ,Jos Plateau State on the occasion of “Condition of Service Signing Ceremony”, which was held at the corporation conference hall.

The president of the Union I.Uzoegwu said the workers laid off by the management of the corporation were the best brains they would have used to develop the corporation.
“Some of the people they sacked was the best brains you would have used when you came on board”.

  He stressed that the management must work in consonance with the workers of the corporation if they must achieve their desired goals” if we work together ,we will move forward, if you did not have the plan ahead, you cannot move forward,he said.

In his opening remarks, the CEo of JEDCO , Malam Gidado Modibo said the management of the company is desirous of the welfare of his Workers which informed the Signing of Condition of Service . Malam Modibo said the negotiation started  almost a year now.

He regretted that the management intention was to came and complete the Signing of the conditions of Service that will spelt out the relationship between the employer and employee,but at last hour an issue came up regarding the aspects of the agreement on pension and gratuity observed by the Union ,so the management have to go back to work on the document to cover the area.
Modibo promised before the end of May,2018 it be ready for Signing, while the procedural Signing will go ahead.

“So we will not  completed today  ,but we shall go ahead and sign the procedural agreement ,before the month of May ,2018 runs out we most have finished with the other aspects of the agreement ready for Signing.”

The president of the Union however called on its members to ensure they redoubled their efforts, shunned any acts capable of bringing the Union into disrepute. ” my call to my members is that they should first of all work for the company to survive, because that is where we earn our living, because as it said in the book of Scripture, that those who work on the vain yard of the Almighty shall have their rewards “.

The heads of human resources of  the corporation Alh. Abubakar Mohammed said the day is symbolic because the Struggle which started about thirteen month ago ,April to be précises, has come to reality with the Signing of procedural agreement.
Abubakar stressed that the management of the corporation is not happy the Signing of the agreement was not completed today as earlier planned but for some observations regarding the aspects of pension and gratuity was raised on the side of the Union which the management agreed.

He however assured that on or before the month of May,2018 runs out the other part of the agreement most have been ready for Signing.
