President Buhari flag off over 9b Hadejia irrigation plan in Jigawa

President Muhammadu Buhari has yesterday flaggef off the rehabilitation and completion of Hadejia Valley irrigation plan at the cost of over 9billion under Transforming Irrigation Management in Nigeria (TRIMING)

The project include the rehabilitation of the existing gravity irrigation area of 5,346 hectares and completion of 778 hectares as the second phase of the project abandoned since 1982 under president Shehu Shagari administration.

The  project is federal government’s special intervention for sustainable development of irrigated agriculture in Nigeria, being a major tool for reducing poverty and promoting shared prosperity.
The contract was awarded to CCG  at the sum of N9,391,038,925.0k, and for the completion period of three years.
“The project includes the Rehabilitation of Hadejia Barrage and Headworks with 26.2 km embankment and storage capacity of 11.4 million cubic meter, Rehabilitation of Feeder Canal and North Main Canal of about 30 km total length, Expansion of South Main Canal of 32.8 km total length with 25 sectors.
Rehabilitation of Main Drain and Drainage Buffer” President Muhammadu Buhari arrived in Dutse International Airport at 10:00AM with his entourage for a two-days official working visit to the state
In the presidential entourage includes,Minister of Interior Abdurrahman Danbazau,Minister for water resources Suleiman Kazaure and Immigration boss Muhammad Baban Dede.
The president was received at the Airport by Gov. Muhammad Badaru Abubakar and Abdullahi Ganduje Kano, members of the Executive Council, Emir of Dutse, Alhaji Nuhu Muhammadu Sanusi, Emir of Kazaure Alhaji Najib Husseini Adamu, Emir of Rimgim Alhaji Abubakar Sayyidi Mahmoud, Emir of Gumel Alhaji Ahmadu Mohammed Sani, among others traditional rulers as well as politicians.
During his two days visit The President commissioned a numbers of projects executed by the Badaru  administration including Tasheguwa-Guri road, Abunabo-Kadira-Guri road and Dutse, water scheme.
The presidential visit to Jigawa witnessed mammoth crowd  at the airport and along the major streets in Dutse metropolis and Hadejia local government by the APC supporters and well washers chanting pressing songs “Sai Baba”
