Governor Simon Bako Lalong of Plateau State has been Urge to pay” No Work No Pay” salaries Owning its Workers without delay.
As Congress is also worried over the non full implementation of #18000 minimum wage as worker at the local government and teachers were offered only 50% and subsequently added 5% with no efforts been made to increase the existing percentage to the third tier Workers in the state.
The Chairman Nigeria Labor Congress(NLC)Plateau States comrade JIbrin kamga Bancir stated this in his speech to mark this year 2018 May Day(Workers Day)celebration held at Rwang Pam Township Stadium Jos.
The chairman said in Plateau State, labor related issues has been a process of engagement which is one of the core values of the ideals of the working class which is wages,as against this backdrop, the NLC is calling on the government without delay to pay the balance of the” No Work No Pay”its owning local government workers, primary school teachers and tertiary institutions”
Comrade jibrin called on the government for the harmonization of minimum wage at local government which would go a long way in improving the economic standard of the average Workers at that level.
He advised the government to put machinery in place towards tackling the issue of the new minimum wage regime is announced by the federal government when all the negotiation is concluded.
On his part, Governor Bako Lalong represented by head of service Izan Azi (mni) the rescue team government led by RT.Hon Bako Lalong Has achieved a lot which includes clearing 2016 salaries arrears, payment of retirees and pension as at when due,Promotion of over 8,000 civil servants in the state civil service.
Other achievements of the Lalong government is the government to ensured that civil servants in the state own their own house. “I have approved the released of sum of 375million for the purchase of about 800 hectares of land at Rafiki in Bassa LG for the Construction of mass low cost housing units.
Governor Lalong however pointed out that for lack of funds which the state is currently facing which is not only peculiar with Plateau alone, the with held salaries for ” No Work No Pay “would have be paid for long.
He appeal to the affected Workers to be a little patient as the government is still committed to offsets the out standing months.
