BREAKING: Police Disperse Another Shiites Protest In Abuja

There is panic among Abuja residents as police officers on Tuesday clashed with suspected Shiites protesters in the Federal Capital Territory.

Residents report that the police vehicles were seen chasing the protesters who in turn hurled stones and other objects at them.

The security agents are reported to have teargassed the protesters, thereby causing panic among residents.

Channels Television confirmed that the clash occurred close to the Wuse market area of the capital.

Tuesday’s incident follows the arrest of 115 Shiites on Monday after police and Shiite protesters clashed near Unity Park and Transcorp Hilton Hotel on Monday. The police officers were seen on Monday teargassing the protesters, as the protesters in return hurled stones at the police patrol vehicles.

Members of the Islamic movement are demanding the release of their leader, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky.
