Protesters early this morning took to the streets in Minna, Niger State to protect the poor power supply being experienced in the state.

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he protesters gathered as early as 6:30am at the popular Mobil round about in Minna with most of them clad in black attire to signify the blackout being experienced in the state.

They wondered why the state which houses the Shiroro and kainji dam, contributing to the national grid have continued to experience prolong blackout.

Some of the protesters said despite the blackout, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company continues to bombard them with huge bill.

“Last month, the times we had light was not up to 100 hours, but AEDC briught us a bill of 24,000. Thi is unacceptable”, one of the protesters said.

“It is obvious that AEDC have been punishing Nigerlites of power supply. This should not continue. We will continue to occupy”

Meanwhile, there are reports that power supply in Minna has improved since yesterday since the AEDC management git wind of the planned protest.

“As I speak to you, there is power supply in my house”, one of the residents said.

Twitter user, Oladele Mathew tweeted “power supply have been steady since planned protest…Niger generates 65% power to national grid, why are we been short supply?”

“so all this years AEDC have the ability to provide us with constant power but choose not to until protest was organize,” Yunus Shawwal tweeted.
